Starlings returns on 14 October 2022 with 'Lost Comrades', a single from the upcoming album, Ax Locked In Pipeline, which will be released on Machine Records in November.
To celebrate we're also releasing a limited edition CD version of the first Starlings album on the same day.
'Lost Comrades' provides a first sounding from this fascinating second album by Starlings aka Kevin Sorsby. We've been listening with interest as Kevin's Starlings project has evolved, and these new tracks show him pushing in new directions. 'Lost Comrades' is immediately and unmistakably a continuation of the first Starlings album, but at the same time lifts the project to a new level of complexity.
Kevin was a key player in the creation of Machine Records in Cardiff back in 2001 but until recent years his own releases have been few and far between. After providing three beautifully formed tracks on our first two Machine compilations in 2003/2004, it was twelve years until his first solo release, a warm and spacious three track EP called 'We Love Like You', appeared in 2016.
His debut Cape Canaveral album 'Inconvenience Me' plunged us into unexpectedly complex, angular sonic assaults, crafting astounding, intricate new sounds with little obvious precedent or reference point. Meanwhile Kevin's other project, Starlings, focuses on a raw, noise-driven aesthetic.
2022 will see Kevin deliver accomplished, challenging new albums as both Cape Canaveral (The Observatory) and Starlings (Ax Locked In Pipeline).
